Air that sustains life
and connects to the future
begins at Daikin.
With the aim of perfecting the air,
Daikin is shaping the future of air
and showcasing it for everyone to experience
at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan.
For example, the company is creating air that
improves the taste of food at restaurants,
air that reassures people in crowded places,
and air that provides relaxing comfort to
rest areas without impacting the environment.
It is also creating air that can be visualized
and enjoyed from remote locations.
But air has the potential to do more than that.
At the 2025 Expo, Daikin will convey to
the world even further possibilities for air
and its new value.

Legacy of Water and Air
A Spectacle of Air and Water Under the Midnight Rainbow

“Under the Midnight Rainbow” is a spectacular show that fully utilizes water, air, light, fire, video, and music
in depicting the story of life on a grandiose scale.
The event will be held every day after sunset during the Osaka,
Kansai Expo at the Water Plaza, a symbolic area of the World Expo.
Through this water show,
we hope that visitors will be able to experience the story of “water” and “air” that have seen everything
on Earth for billions of years and that it will inspire new feelings leading to a better future.
Highland Restaurant “SUIKUU”

As a company aspiring to perfect the air,
Daikin strives for air that can further enhance the taste of food.
Utilizing our air technology, we are creating an environment where customers can enjoy delicious food and comfort that is reminiscent of the highlands, even at a seaside location in Yumeshima.
The entire restaurant is filled with the perfect air for dining: ir whetting appetites at the entrance and reception area,
air inspiring confidence for relaxation with family and friends in the dining hall,
and air fueling extraordinary excitement in the private dining rooms.
“SUIKUU” is a restaurant managed by Suntory Holdings Ltd.
Safe and Reliable Air/
Ceiling-Supplied Displacement Ventilation Air Conditioning

Ceiling-supplied displacement ventilation air conditioning is a system in which air
blown from the ceiling at the end of the restaurant dining hall slowly falls toward the floor.
That fallen air is then drawn up into the center of the ceiling along with particulate matters such as viruses
and pollen and gas components such as volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
Two high-performance filters (a low-pressure-drop,
medium efficiency particulate air filter and a gas adsorption filter) not only purify the air,
but they also eliminate the typical cross drafts of air conditioners.
Implemented for the first time at this Expo,
it provides an environment for guests to confidently enjoy a meal with family and friends.
Eco-Conscious Air and Exhaust Heat Recovery Ventilation

Ventilation is essential at restaurants crowded with people, but conventional ventilation systems allow large amounts of cold energy to escape when the air exhaust is discharged outdoors, resulting in a significant loss of energy. At a highland restaurant “SUIKUU” which is also a demonstration site for next-generation restaurant air conditioning, we have achieved exhaust heat recovery ventilation that recovers only the cold energy (coldness and warmth) from the air discharged outdoors and reuses it for indoor air conditioning. In this way, Daikin aims to establish the standard for restaurants of the future.
Visual Enjoyment of Air/
Visualization of Air Conditions and Changes

A monitor mounted on the wall of the restaurant enables the visualization of air conditions and changes.
Based on the indoor and outdoor temperatures, humidity, wind movements, and brightness measured by sensors,
AI generates visualizations of the sky and clouds, the rustling of flowers and trees,
and the activities of insects to create visuals in a style similar to an oil, watercolor, or Japanese painting,
and those images are projected according to the movements of customers detected by the camera.
Even indoors, customers can feel the outdoor air and the changes of the seasons
while enjoying a cuisine that complements the season and outdoor conditions.
“Dining That Travels Through Air”/
Recreating Environments by Control of Air

The Expo is being held in Yumeshima,
which is located in the Osaka Bay Area, but in addition to controlling the temperature, humidity, and airflow, the restaurant will recreate various environments by changing wall images.
This means guests can travel the world and experience a variety of air types while remaining seated in their private dining room.
Natural wind is generated using a wind surface device
and provides a physical sensation of being in different regions around the world and in Japan.
Ice Cool Spot

This rest area uses outdoor air conditioning of the future
that is conscious of both people and the environment by using natural energy sources such as sunlight
and the cold energy produced by melting ice.
Electricity generated during the day by the solar panels is stored in the storage battery,
and ice is made at night in the ice thermal storage unit.
On the following day,
the heat from the melting ice (radiant heat) is used to cool Ice Cool Spot. In this way,
Daikin uses modern technology to reproduce the cooling method of a traditional Japanese icehouse.

The Ice Cool Spot structure was created with the cooperation of our collaborative partners
and is designed to not only be an eco-conscious building but also to be a beautiful one.
To accomplish this,
we incorporated traditional Japanese lattice for the wooden structure and aesthetically pleasing solar panels.

Legacy of Water and Air

Daikin, in collaboration with Suntory,
will be using the Expo as an opportunity to convey the importance and
possibilities of “water and air” to our children who will lead the future and to create a space
where children can think and talk together about “water and air” while coming to new realizations and knowledge.
It is our hope to pass on the ideas generated at the Expo to the future.
water & Air SDGs action rally

At KidZania locations in Tokyo, Osaka, and Fukuoka, Daikin is exhibiting its concept for the possibilities of air in an easy-to-understand manner. Our aim is to educate visitors on the possibilities of air to further improve our lives and encourage them to think from a child’s perspective for the kind of air that we will need for a better future.
Out of KidZania Water and Air Researchers

Over the course of about a year, this program affords children the opportunity to deepen their understanding of water and air and reflect upon ideas for the future. In addition to lessons learned in the classroom, children can think about the future of water and air in natural environments at Daikin Ales Aoya and the Suntory Okudaisen Bunanomori Water Plant. These children will also present the results of the program at the Expo site.
Water and Air Symposium

Specialists will add their expert knowledge to the "ideas about water and air" brought forth by the children during the Water & Air SDGs Action Rallies and exploration program and create proposals at the symposium. A message for the future will be left during the Expo.
