Building a nation through youth-skilling initiatives

The biggest impediment to the Indian demographic advantage is that of skill. So, skilling, upskilling and reskilling are critical. In the coming years, skill will decide scale. The COVID-19 pandemic has essentially necessitated the world to gravitate towards options outside China, and India appears to be a natural beneficiary.

One such skill initiative is the Japan-India Institute for Manufacturing (JIM). This collaboration bore fruition in November 2016, through a MoC (Memorandum of Cooperation) signed between India and Japan, wherein a new resolution was set aside for select companies to develop institutes that could train Indian youth on Japanese manufacturing practices. By combining the strengths of both the countries, this unique initiative aims to bridge the gap between both nations.
